About the Opportunity

Due to recent restructuring and the continuous growth of the organization, the Dr. Peter Centre currently has an opportunity for a Manager of Operations to join our team in Vancouver, BC. This is a full-time position based on a 36 hr work week, which reports directly to Senior Management.

In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for managing the overall operations of the Dr. Peter Centre, including administration, facilities, IT, and internal communication functions. Your leadership will ensure the smooth operation of the housekeeping team, administrative assistants, our facility contractor Black & McDonald (B&M), as well as our IT and phone service providers.

More specifically, your duties in this role will entail, but are not restricted to:

  • Developing and implementing strategic operational processes and procedures, including an operations manual and an IT management plan
  • Implementing and managing systems to ensure the Centre functions efficiently and safely for all staff, clients, and volunteers
  • Providing guidance and direction for all internal employees, as well as to our external contractors
  • Managing the IT systems – both hardware and software, including acquisitions, allocations, and budget, as well as managing external IT consultants and advisors 
  • Overseeing our SharePoint intranet site and its content
  • Supervising the development, implementation, and upkeep of administrative systems to facilitate staff communications, scheduling, documentation, privacy, etc.
  • Acting as the Privacy Officer for the Centre and ensuring security of digital and paper information about donors, staff, volunteers, and general operational files and records
  • Representing the Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation and the Dr. Peter Centre in a professional and ethical manner to ensure our reputation is maintained and enhanced

About You

In order to qualify for this role, you will need a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Project Management, or another related field, along with a minimum 5 years of experience in managing operations, facilities, or property. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be an adequate substitute for the right candidate. 

The following qualifications will ensure your long-term success in this role:

  • Experience working in or with a values-based, social purpose organization
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based communication tools
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to develop and execute strategies, plans, and budgets
  • Great leadership skills, with a strategic vision and focus on the bigger picture
  • Calm and collected in the face of adversity, with the ability to proactively identify and solve issues as they arise
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a high-pressure, highly-emotional, and constantly-evolving environment
  • Self-starter able to work with minimal guidance, and able to coach and mentor others
  • A desire for continuous improvement and growth within the organization
  • Driver's license with a clear driving record (asset)
